Microfiber towel care: choose, wash and store with confidence
A clean towel is as important as the product you apply with it. Sorting towels by job and washing them correctly makes daily detailing more predictable.
Give each towel a specific job
Use separate towels for drying paintwork, cleaning glass, wiping the interior and handling wheels. A color-coded system is easy to remember. Choose the weave and size for the task rather than assuming that a heavier towel is always better.
Check before every use
Look for grit, hardened residues and damaged edges. Shake out loose debris and remove contaminated towels from paintwork use. Test unfamiliar combinations of towel and cleaner in a small, unobtrusive area.
Wash according to the care label
- Wash heavily contaminated wheel towels separately from paint and glass towels.
- Use a suitable detergent at the amount specified for the load.
- Avoid fabric softener, which can leave residues and affect absorbency.
- Follow the recommended temperature and rinse thoroughly.
Dry gently and store clean
Use the drying method stated on the label. Avoid excessive heat. Once completely dry, fold the towels and store them in a clean, enclosed place, away from dust and chemicals.
Know when to change the assignment
If a towel stays rough or contaminated after washing, retire it from delicate surfaces. Moving an older towel to a less sensitive task is useful only when it remains suitable and clean.
